Thanks Simon. Are you going to start posting photos on your blog? It’s a great way to get practice, to get inspired and to start to find what styles work for you, personally. I think the most important thing about photography is to enjoy it for yourself, first and foremost. If other people like your pictures, it’s a nice bonus.
Very nice, pzf. I can see you’ve been practising and that you decided to focus on the very front tip of the leaf/raindrop, this gives beautiful bokeh and light and detail. Very nice!
Thanks. Yes, I’ve been doing quite a bit of practising with my macro lens lately. Deciding on the best focal point and getting the focus spot on is quite tricky. It requires a lot of patience, which is not something that comes naturally to me! But it’s getting easier and I am really enjoying it. I’m glad you like this one.
In simple terms, Simon, bokeh is the out of focus part of the picture. Different factors (aperture size, lens quality, distance from subject) can all affect how smooth/appealing the bokeh is.
Are you really a ‘newbie’? I think if you googled the word, it would be a lot easier than me trying to explain! I’m feeling a bit lazy at the moment. *wink
Gorgeous, can only hope to get a shot like that one day.
